Youth/Teens Needed for County-Wide Coalition Teen

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on May 21, 2012

The Livingston County Community Alliance is a county-wide coalition whose purpose is to raise awareness and prevention of alcohol, tobacco, and drug use in Livingston County. We promote healthy communities through county-wide campaigns such as "Parents Who Host Lose the Most- Don't Be a Party for Underage Drinking", community events such as "The Run Against Drugs", and fund small prevention/awareness projects that directly involve Livingston County youth.
The Alliance has a diverse membership including concerned citizens, business owners, law enforcement, members of the media, students, teachers, and non-profit and health professionals.

We are looking for responsible and dedicated teens to serve on a team to assist with anti-drug messages and activities. By joining the team, you'll be able to gain experience working with the Livingston County Community, discover leadership opportunities, plan events, network with community professionals, and meet other teens in Livingston County!

The teens would be in charge of planning their own events, carry out their own drug-free messages, and have vital input into current drug-free messages and their effectiveness, among many other tasks.

Volunteers will need to be between the ages of 13-18 years. Exceptions can be made. They need to reside in Livingston County and be able to dedicate about 4 hours per month to the team. They must be willing to participate in local and community events that focus on substance abuse prevention and can pledge that they will not participate in drug, alcohol, or tobacco use.
