Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on June 4, 2012

Pre-Student teaching field experiences provide an opportunity to experience classroom management, planning, and delivery of content without entire classroom responsibility. Work Skills Corporation (WSC) Alternative Education High School in Brighton, Michigan has volunteer opportunities for students to fulfill pre-student teaching requirements of their educational program.
Work Skills Corporation (WSC) Alternative Education High School is looking for volunteers to help give teaching assistance to students working on their computer based high school courses. WSC Alternative Education offers students (ages 16-19) the opportunity to recover and earn credits while working towards their high school diploma or preparing for the GED test. Students work in a flexible and supportive learning environment at their own pace. Volunteers would assist the classroom teaching staff to provide individual academic support to students particularly in the areas of Math, Science and Government. Volunteers can work between the hours of 8:30 and 12:30, Monday through Thursday.

Volunteers are required to commit to a minumum of 2 hours and a maximum of 8 hours per week. This opportunity is available to college students pursuing a secondary education degree or adults with high school teaching experience. Background screening will be required.
